Get Married??? I Will,,, Just Not For Now

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 8:13 PM in ,
I guessed I'm not the only woman in her 20-something age got a question "When will you be married?"

I got this question since I graduated from University in 2006. My Mum started this out. Since 2007, she went to Dubai for work. Since then, she always ask the same question, "Do you have a boyfriend, yet?" or made a statement like "When I come home, I want you to have a future husband so I can see your wedding."

At first, I try to ignored it by answered, "Later, Mum. I must finish my college first." But she kept asking and asking and asking again. Great,,, Kinda frustrating, but I chose to consider that as a pray for me. I'm not the kind of girl in a rush to get married and have kids. Not this fast.

I always thought that marriage is a journey. Journey to know your spouse, the dreams that both of you have, and the process to make all of your dreams come true. It's a neverending journey. If you think by getting married it means that you already reach the end of the journey, I respectfully disagree. Every day is a new day and you will having a new experience with your family. Maybe you must compromise a few things with your spouse, learn a new thing from them, and accept it as a part of your life. That is what I see from marriage in my family. Learning process everyday, that's my Grandma once told me (she's been married to Grandpa for 50 years this July ).

If you ask me now, are you want to get married, I definitely say yes. But when? That's the other problem. Few reasons why I choose not to get married too soon:
1. I spent 6 years in college to get Diploma 3 in Broadcast and Bachelor in Mass Communication. I think I deserve to build my career first. Some comments I receive like "Remember your age,,, In 5 years you'll reach 30." Ladies and gentleman, the world won't come to an end if I'm not married soon. Period.
2. People keep asking and comments about my status makes me feel like they violate my privacy. Both from family and friends. I felt insecure and afraid to make a decision. Marriage, for me, should be once in a lifetime. Needs total commitment to spend your life with that one person. I won't make a decision based on "I must married before 30" or "I'm afraid to be alone" or "I just want to have lots of children while I can". Those thinking not wrong, with all due respect, but for me it's not appropriate. Marriage should build on a stronger foundation, like do we have a same vision, beyond having children or age problem. But that's just me .
3. My Mum's failure in marriage has effected me for years. If you asked me 3 years ago the same question, I will say BIG NO! If my parents separate after 10 years of marriage, what about me. Thank God, I passed those 'dark' moments. With help from my closest friends, not to mention my family, I was able to get rid of those thinking. But makes me think and plan carefully about my future.
4. I haven't found a person who shares same vision with me. "How about Mr. Frog?" some of you may asked. FYI, our relationship has reach 2 months. Both of us still have lots to learn from each other, knowing our characters, our thinking, and also our vision. For now, we never mention further to marriage. We just live our lives together. Time will tell whether we have same vision or not (hopefully we have hehehe).

I don't want to be a hypocrite person. I do want to have someone I can trust. Someone can guide me. Someone that I see first when I wake up and the last I see before I sleep. I believe I will get there. Just have a little faith in me and support me to do what I want right now. To fulfill all my dreams right now. I will get there... To be a host of a wedding reception and not a guest in my own wedding hehehe.

Spirit of SSB!!!

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 1:43 PM in , ,

I’m so excited!!! One by one, application for Sampoerna School of Business (SSB) came to our office. Excited, because we can facilitate bright Indonesian student to continue their study to higher education without the thought, “I want to go to college but my family don’t have money.”

SSB offered 2 (two) kinds of payment, scholarship and student financing. I guess everyone very familiar with the term “scholarship”. But “student financing”, is a new term even for me. Well, student financing has a same meaning with student loan. College student can have a loan to continue their study. After they graduate, they will return the loan.

Student financing have the same scheme like student loan. Well, hopefully I can explain it right. This scheme is based on syariah system. In short, no interest loan applied, no fees, and not influenced by inflation rate like any other loans you heard nowadays. The fund they return will be use to another bright student to continue their study.

For now, this scheme only applied in Sampoerna School of Education and Sampoerna School of Business for Bachelor degree. For more information about Student Financing you can send email to siswabangsa@sampoernafoundation.org. If you happen to know someone who wants to continue their study to college and want to apply to Sampoerna School of Business, you can get the application form in our website www.sampoernafoundation.org. Don’t let the dreams of children ends just because they don’t have money to go to college.

Today, Mr. Frog having his birthday !!! Last night I called him and asked what present he wants on his birthday. He just answered, "Not much,,, Hope this year I can live more healthily. Not only me, but also my family, and you too."

He planned to pick me up today and go somewhere to eat. The best part hangout with him, we always looking for the delicious street food, not mall. So today is no different than the other days. We won't go to the mall. Where we eat, I don't know. Depends on where we found a nice spot hehehe. Can't wait!

Shocked,,, But Show Must Go On

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 5:04 PM in
I never expected that my work life will be THESE dynamic. About 1,5 month I'm here, lots of changes within days, sometimes hours. I'm adapting since the first day I joined until now. I realized it's an ongoing process. But not this kind of change.

When we had team meeting in Starbucks, our team got a shocking update. Can't tell you what it is, project-related hehehe. We were speechless, then thinking about our next moves in this team for our project in the future. While we were discussing the strategies, I got another lesson from today. Whatever happen, the show must go on. We can't stop in the middle of something. All changes, all obstacles, we must face it no matter what. From those things, we can learn something to improve ourself.

Yeah it's an old crap that maybe some famous motivators always told us in their show. But it never outdated. AT ALL. You will find it everywhere you go, everywhere you work. Adapt fast, because the show must go on,,, *sigh*

Wrote A Letter For Him

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 12:45 PM in
I don't know what's on my mind yesterday, but I wrote a letter for Mr. Frog!!! Yesterday I woke up at 6 PM, took a bath and dress up for education exhibition hehehe. I checked my Facebook profile and other things I usually do when I'm in front of computer hehehe. Suddenly, I want to wrote something and thinking what should I wrote. I decided to wrote a letter for Mr. Frog. Just popped up in my head.

What I wrote??? Nope, I'm not gonna share the details with you. The bottom line is, I'm very grateful for his love for me. I also apologized for my grumpiness, my whining and my demands to him. I kept wrote (correction, TYPED) what I had in mind and 10 minutes later I finished my 2 pages letter. I printed and planned to gave it to him yesterday when he pick me up from Le Meridien, the place where education exhibition took place.

But yesterday he couldn't pick me up. His eyes sore badly. So he must rest in his house. It doesn't matter. I still have the letter in my bag. I'll give it to him when we meet hehehe

Bazaar,,, What A Spirit!!!

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 10:00 PM in
From 8-15 April, there's a charity bazaar in Sampoerna Strategic Square from MAP. As you know, MAP had a several brands such as Zara, Massimo Dutti, Nine West, you name it 'coz I'm not that shopaholic hehehe. For 8-9 April, exclusive for HSBC cardholder and 10-15 April open for public. The price is IDR 50,000 all items except accessories IDR 10,000. So you can imagine, this bazaar attract sale searcher around Jakarta!

The first day of bazaar, TOTALLY WACKO!!! The line of people waiting their turn to enter the atrium extremely long! I left the office around 9 AM to go to Tendean office deliver some documents and came back around 12 PM. When I arrived at the lobby, the line is doubled. True shoppers, women with their boyfriend/husband, mums with toddlers and babies and their nannies, grannies, even pregnant woman waiting to go inside atrium. The results, it should be open until 7 PM, but the organizer decided to closed it earlier, around 2 PM.

Today, the line started at 8 AM!!! I saw those line when I enter the atrium delivering some brochure and leaflets with my friends. Actually, this is my way to get a sneek peek of what kind of items they sold for bazaar. Well, the items so cool. I'm not interested in clothes, I was loking for a shoe. If you come earlier, you will find good items. I managed to find 2 shoes and a necklace. Nice!!! I will wear the shoe tomorrow for wedding parties hehehe.

Although I've watched lots of similar bazaars, but I'm still amazed with the spirit and power to have branded items with cheap price. They're willing to spend the whole day just to get inside and buy those items. On second thought, reminds me of Misae from comic Crayon Shinchan who will fight for her right for sale items :)

4 Weddings In 2 Days

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 9:45 AM in
Busy week for me. No, I'm not talking about my job since it's always busy everyday hehehe. But about my schedule to attend 4 wedding parties. How "busy"???

On Saturday 10/4, I have 3 weddings. The first wedding start from Holy Matrimony at 11 AM and continue with the reception at 5.30 PM. The second wedding reception at 7 PM. Then, I have to accompany Mr. Frog to his relative's wedding reception around 3 PM (OH NO!!! Will meet his entire family!!!). Tight schedule, huh? On Sunday 11/4, only 1 wedding start at 7 PM.

So Saturday night will be my busiest night EVER for wedding parties. When I received the invitations for Saturday, my first reaction is speechless. I can choose which wedding reception I will attend. BUT! I have 2 friends get married in that day, one from college and one from my old office. For me, this will be my chance to have a little reunion with my friends. Another invitation came from Mr. Frog. He personally asked me to accompany him. I can't say no for this matter since he always pick me up after office and take me wherever I want to go, and he never complained. It's time for me to do the same for him. Beside, there will be a lot of yummy foods HAHAHA. So I decided to attend all the 3 weddings on Saturday.

Then another question popped in my mind,,, Should I bring a clothes, let say, 2 clothes??? I'll think about it later hehehe

Kings Of Convenience - Me In You

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 12:12 PM in
Today, I can't stop listening Kings Of Convenience album. The song that stuck in my head right now is Me In You. I don't know why, I just can't get the tune out off my head right now :)

Crossroads and given the option
To pass and look back at goals I've missed
Rainbows or burning bridges
If you squint a little more it looks the same

But ooooooooooooooooooooooooh
There's a little bit of me inside you
Gathering what you've lost
But oooooooooooooooooooooooooh
There's a little bit of you in everyone
Can never keep a secret

Problem; lines on your face
You smooth them out so no one can tell
put a straight back upon a stage
could (dance dance) hide the tremor in your hand

But ooooooooooooooooooooooooh
There's a little bit of me inside you
Gathering what you've lost
But oooooooooooooooooooooooooh
There's a little bit of you in everyone

And I'm watching you now
I see you building the castle with one hand
while tearing down another with the other

And I'm watching you now
I see you building the castle with one hand
while tearing down another with the other

And I'm watching you now
I see you building the castle with one hand
while tearing down another with the other

Weekend With Him... Not Too Smooth :)

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 8:33 AM in ,
*Take a time to write a little hehehe

I'm very grateful to have Mr. Frog by my side. But sometimes he made me crazy. The new one just happened last Saturday 3/4.

I went to PSJ UI to saw Erwin's presentation about SSB (he's my teammate in SSB). I called Mr. Frog and asked can he pick me up as he promised. He said, he will pick me up at 5 PM. In UI or Kalibata, it will be decided later. So I enjoy the presentation, went to FISIP to meet with old friends. At 4 PM, I called his cellphone but the operator said that the number is inactive or out of reach. That's odd. He never shut his cellphone off at those time. I tried several times but no answer. Usually, I'm cool with this kind of problem, waiting for so long. But the difference is, their cellphone is active so I can monitored them. I couldn't contact him to asked where he pick me up. I started to angry and sent him SMS (twice) expressed how angry I was. Results, 5 minutes later he called me and said will pick me up at UI. I said no need. I'll wait in Kalibata train station and I want him there the time I arrived 'cause I'm tired waiting for him.

So I went to train station from UI with Economy class train and 15 minutes later arrived in Kalibata. He wasn't there so I sent an SMS told him I'm waiting for him. 15 minutes later, he arrived and I started to punch his arm to expressed my angry. Mr. Frog said I can punch him as hard as I want but later after we eat dinner. From Kalibata to Blok M, I sat silently and not responded to what he's saying to cheer me up. I think that is the first time he saw me mad hehehe. After we arrived and have our dinner, I started to talk how mad I was because I couldn't call him. Nobody has ever did this to me, not even my friends and family. He just listen to my words, no comments and held my hands. Finished with my words, he said sorry and won't do that again to me. He set his cellphone profile to OFFLINE so he can't receive any calls although his cellphone is active. He forgot to switched the profile because he was in rush to go to gym. I just sat silently listened to him. Slowly, my anger drop to the lowest level and start to cheer up again.

I think I've made myself clear to him. NEVER made me wait without information. We'll see will this thing happen again or not :))
