Wishes of the Month

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 9:25 PM
This month, unconsciously I made two wishes. Miraculously, I got it in two days!!!

1. Opening bank account
This month, I planned to open another bank account. This bank account, which I called "A-Z Plan", will serve as my savings for future. I already made some plans (although it's a bit late) for my future. House, Hajj, vacation, education and any other plans for my future.

I interested in one program from 1 bank. But, for first deposit I have to prepare IDR 2,500,000. Quite a number. So I saved my money, hoped that I can achieve that number for the opening.

That's why I couldn't believe my luck when my friends told me that I can opened a bank account, in that certain bank, with the program I want, for only IDR 500,000. Apparently, my colleague was approached by the Marketing from that bank and got a great deal because that bank was having an expo. To attract more customers, they reduce the first deposit to IDR 500,000 during the expo. My colleague, Mbak Lusy, offered to me and other colleagues. I said "YES!" and immediately filled the application. It was the best Friday (25/3) of the month.

On Monday (28/3) I will have my book and card. I have my bank account!!! Alhamdulillah.

2. Sushi Time
I like sushi. No, I LOVE sushi. It's been a while since the last time I have my sushi time. So I said to myself, "I gotta have sushi this month."

Again, luck was on my side. On Saturday (26/3), there's a selection from KSB for SSB students. I met the consultants who arranged the selection. We've known each other from the previous recruitment. At 2 PM, Mbak Ketty messaged me said I have to go to auditorium for a surprise. When I came, I saw boxes of SUSHI!!!

I jumped like a little child!!! My reaction made everyone in the room laughed. So we ate the sushi together. Well, only 3 people enjoyed sushi so much, which is me, Mbak Ketty and Mas Dana from Daya Insani, our consultant. I told Mas Dana that I planned to have my sushi time around next week. But I don't need my sushi time because I already have it!!! Thank you!!!

In 2 days, my 2 wishes came true. All I can say is... ALHAMDULILLAH!!!

Keep Your Head Down

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 8:43 PM
I just inspired by Korean song from a boyband called TVXQ. Their latest singel called Keep Your Head Down.

In life, you'll meet various person with unique characters. Either nice characters or annoying type. Including me. From neighborhood, school, campus even office I met these kind of characters. Sometimes it's frustrating. So I tried to take a deep breath for a while. Free my mind from negative thoughts.

Keep your head down.

Doesn't mean you surrender with the condition. But to give a time to yourself to sort things out and gather positive energy to face it.

Keep your head down.

Gives you time to think what is the next step. How to do it and finally reach your goal.

Keep your head down.

Makes you appreciate everyone around you. Because you know they work hard for their dream

Instead put your head up high, just keep your head down.

You're not the superior one. You need someone else to achieve your dream.

For me, keep my head down = RESPECT

Palembang

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 8:03 AM

Totally excited!!! Finally I have my first duty trip!!! Yes, I have my duty trip to Palembang for SSB Selection Test. When I realize I will go to Palembang, I couldn’t describe how I’m feeling. Nervous and excited mixed up.

I departed at 25/2 with Erwin. I have a confession. I haven’t come to airport for 10 years, as a passenger. Not to pick-up someone. So, I felt like a beginner. Not to mention that I go alone, without my family. I’m totally blind with the process in the airport hehehe. But I have Erwin, my trusted partner from Marketing Team. He guided through phone about the process from check-in until boarding time. Yeah he’s late because his taxi late to pick him up. So I waited him in the boarding room.

Being in boarding room, I can see the runway clearly. I saw planes took off and landed and it excited me more. Little bit worry of course, because it was raining pretty hard. I started to pray for rain to stop. Hey, it’s my first flight after 10 years. It should be warm and shiny. Not gloomy and rainy. The rain stopped when I boarded to the plane. I sat at 6B, got in the middle. My heart started to beat faster, knowing that I will fly again. Pray harder when the plane started taxiing to runway, took off and flew through the clouds. We have turbulences very hard and I felt my heart sank. But, I maintained cool expression eventhough my heart beating faster.

Overall, I enjoy my flight to Palembang. I could see only clouds. The clouds like… soft pillow made me want to sleep on it hehehe. Now I know why few years ago BJ Habibie made a photography book and exhibition captured the beauty of the clouds. They indeed beautiful. Too bad I sat in the middle, not beside the window. I also saw Palembang when we approached the airport. I saw Ampera Bridge, Kemarau Island where there is pagoda. I’ve heard about the legend of the pagoda. But I forgot the story. Hmmm I should dig more about this one.

First day in Palembang, we came to schools for the preparation of the test. Then, shop some snacks. In the hotel, I took a massage treatment. Very soothing. I felt relieved and recharge. Next morning, we went to Sampoerna Academy to see the venue. Prepared the equipment then off to find delicious pempek. We didn’t go to Pempek Candy because we knew the taste. We just want to find another alternative.

Big day 27/2 came as the Selection Test held in that day. It ran well and we finished at 1 PM. I said to Erwin, I must take a picture at Ampera Bridge. To verified that I’ve been to Palembang hehehe. So at 6 PM, we went to Ampera Bridge. It’s cold because after rain. But it didn’t stop me to take pictures. Ampera Bridge at night totally beautiful. That bridge totally huge!!! Now, with that picture, I could say that I’ve been to Palembang hehehe.

On Monday 28/2 we returned to Jakarta, of course with lots of pempek hehehe. I’m sure I will have another chance to go to Palembang again someday, not for business trip. But for travelling. I would like to go back to Palembang again hehehe. Can’t wait for another trip, duty or personal.

We've Won!!!

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 7:30 PM
Today 19/2 our hard work was paid off. In SEO 2011, SSB brought victory home to our campus. Our Movie Team won the 3rd place!!!

We were so excited!!! We came as newbie in this competition. Our goal is to make our school been recognized by other campus and enriched the experience for the students. All participants had done well during the competition. I have to give special recognition to Movie Team.

With all difficulties, less than 2 weeks, they presented a good documentary about dream. The title of the documentary is "I Dare To Dream". The story was about the street singer named Adam who had a dream to become a soldier. He refuse to give up with his condition and continue his education in free school.

This story made Movie Team earned the 3rd place. So we dedicate this award to Adam and other street singer who still preserve their dream. If they can and still dream, why can't we?

SEO 2011

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 3:47 PM
It's been quite journey this week for my SSB kids. Starting from Monday 14/2 until today 19/2 they compete in Sout East Asia English Competition 2011. There are 6 categories in this competition and SSB participated in all categories. Those categories are scrabble, debate, speech, news casting, short-movie making, and story telling.

This is the first time we participate in such a big event. The aim for the students is to gain lots of experience and learn the system. So we don't give high target to them. But the result is quite good.

Story telling and news casting breakthrough to the octo-final along with movie team. Debate, speech and scrabble eliminated in the first round but with good result. Debate team only lost 1 point to through and our adjudicator managed to be chair adjudicator in one round of debate. Scrabble, from 10 rounds he win 4 rounds. Speech, quite good experience she got from this competition.

Today, the only survived team is Movie team. Now I'm in @America Pacific Place to hear the announcement. Cross my finger to my Movie kids. So, I gotta go!! Want to hear the announcement hehehe. Pray for us!!!

Back To Campus... For Competition

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 2:14 PM
No, I'm not talking about coming back to UI, my old campus. Today (15/2), when the calendar marked red because of Maulid Nabi, me and my SSB colleagues accompanied students for having South East Asian English Competition (SEO) 2011 at Binus University in Anggrek Campus. So technically, I'm back to campus.

Arrived at 8 AM, I felt young again. Back to the days when I'm still "free" and having fun with friends, and sometimes lecturers hehehe. I remember clearly every activities where I participated as committee. I kinda miss wearing jacket, the Yellow Jacket, when participate in a committee. That jacket is a witness of every hard work from zero to the end of event. Saw the committee, today, wearing their jacket, makes me want to go back to that time.

I enjoyed every meetings, every arguments, every difficult processes, every sleepless nights until the event started. I'm sure the committee from Binus also did the same. Without those steps, today's SEO 2011 won't be happen. Thank you for this competition so my SSB kids have the opportunity to develop themselves, meet new friends, and learn from this events.

Most of all, thank you for this competition because I have the opportunity to remember and cherished every moments I have back in university with all the activities,,, But I still love my friends, not my campus :)
