SSB Workshop "Let's Manage Your Money" (18/12 at SSB Auditorium)

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 2:51 PM
At 18/12, Koperasi Siswa Bangsa (KSB) held a workshop for SSB students. The workshop called "Let's Manage Your Money". The speakers is the famous Ligwina Hananto from QM Financial. Basically, the students were taught how to manage their living allowance. All SSB students is the recipients of Student Assistance Program and every month they received living allowance. Hopefully my 'kids' can learn a lot from this workshop and apply it in their lives.

Christmas Memories with Grandma

Posted by Maddy Pertiwi on 1:21 PM
Although I don't celebrate Christmas, but some of my family members are Catholic. So there's always Christmas party in my relative's house. But that was long time ago, before my parents divorced. Since the divorced, our family was separated between Surabaya-Jakarta. I haven't seen my other family members for ages!! Especially my grandma, Oma Nel.

Oma Nel was good at cooking. She specialized in cakes and pastries. During Lebaran and Christmas, she always prepared various cookies. I used to helped her, although only sprinkled the tops hehehehe. But that was fun activity for a little girl. But that activity ended after my parents divorced. One thing that made me sad, Oma Nel had a diabetes and already took one of her kidney and her sight. So she can't make any delicious cookies years ago.

I just called her today, just to say hi. Well tomorrow is Christmas and those memories suddenly came up. She's 86 now, very fragile age. I thanked God that in this age, she still have spirit, still able to talk clearly, remember clearly. Despite her treatment for her crushed hipbone because she fell about 2 years ago, she's in good condition, not ill. I'm very sad because the last time she saw me when I was in elementary school. Now I'm 25 years and she couldn't see me in my graduation pictures, or my brother's. She couldn't see how me and my brother grow up. I'm sure she only have the image of us as a little boy and girl, not a grown up man and woman.

I promised her that next year I will go to Jember to visit her. My friends asked me to go vacation to Surabaya and I'm thinking to extend my vacation to Jember, too. Hopefully my wish will come true. Until then, I will cherished all my memories with Oma Nel, including the Christmas one. Even though I'm not celebrating, that doesn't mean I can't have the memories :)
